The School of Science at Auckland University of Technology is strengthening its research and teaching capabilities in Chemistry,and is seeking applicants for a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer position in Chemistry.  In particular we welcome applications from persons having expertise in Organic Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry. 

The primary roles within the School are to carry out internationally-recognised research and to provide the highest quality undergraduate and postgraduate educational experience for students. Research and postgraduate student supervision are an essential component of the position. The research will underpin teaching as well as advancing knowledge in Chemistry. 

Auckland University of Technology is ranked in the top five hundred universities in the world, and is the second-largest and most rapidly expanding university in New Zealand. This appointment is part of a strategic initiative by the School of Science to strengthen its programme in Chemistry. The School has made five recent academic appointments, refurbished the chemistry research laboratory, and made a significant investment in scientific instrumentation including a Bruker Avance III HD 400MHz NMR spectrometer, a WITec alpha300R scanning confocal Raman microscope with AFM, a Cary Eclipse Fluorescence spectrometer, a Cary 100 UV/Vis spectrometer, an Applied Photophysics Flash Photolysis unit, an Applied Photophysics Stopped-Flow spectrometer, an Agilent 4200 MP-AES, a Liberty AX ICP-AES, a Siemens MBraun glovebox, and a Malvern NanoZS zetasizer. A refurbishment of the Science building is also being planned.

The successful applicant will have a PhD in Chemistry, and postdoctoral experience, excellent research credentials including publications in international chemistry journals of high standing, a genuine commitment to enthusiastic and high quality teaching, a willingness to be flexible with respect to teaching assignments and a willingness to carry out assigned administrative duties. Experience in writing grants and in establishing collaborations are also desirable. 

Your ability to inspire, be creative and show innovation, plus your strong interpersonal and communication skills, will be essential for success in this position.
