As part of its strategic development, the Department of Informatics at King’s College London is seeking applications from candidates for the position of Chair in Computer Science (Human Computer Interaction) starting in Summer 2019, or as soon as possible thereafter. 

The appointee will undertake research in HCI and teaching in an area of computer science, including supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate projects. The successful candidate will lead and grow the Human Centred Computing (HCC) group and be expected to develop HCI activity at King’s (see Research collaboration across research groups, with departmental Hubs, with other Departments in the Faculty and across the College is strongly encouraged.

Strong candidates should bring an excellent knowledge and awareness of current research and practical challenges in human-computer interaction understood in the broadest sense of the term. The Department seeks to broaden and deepen its current strengths in these areas, so candidates engaged in research and teaching which complements that of the existing members of the Department will be considered favourably. Applicants must have a PhD, an excellent publication record in HCI, and the ability to attract research funding. They should be well-established and well-connected HCI researchers. They must already be of professorial standing or ready to be appointed to their first chair. It is essential that applicants have the enthusiasm and commitment required to contribute to the further development of the research standing of the Department of Informatics, and to make a full contribution to teaching and administrative activities.
