Cranfield University is an exclusively postgraduate university that is a global leader for education and transformational research in technology and management.
The post holder will be responsible for the development and delivery of research and education in energetic materials. The post holder will be expected to work on research contracts, which include research into development of novel explosive compositions, optimisation of pressing processes and research into development of novel processing methods. The post holder will be expected to propose new projects (MSc, PhD) to attract investment and enhance the profile of the University.
The post holder requires effective communication and influencing skills including negotiation, persuasion and empathising skills. The post holder is required to communicate effectively with researchers, technicians, support staff, students, and customers.
The post holder will have a PhD related to Energetic Materials Research (or nearing completion) and significant experience in working with energetic materials either from industrial or academic exposure.
Significant experience applying analytical skills and techniques, such as differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, single crystal and powder x-ray diffraction, density analysis, particle size analysis, infra-red and ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry is essential.
Membership of appropriate professional bodies (RSC) is desirable.
