The New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling is a post-graduate training college that provides courses in psychotherapy, counselling, coaching, and related topics. Two of these training programmes lead to doctoral degrees awarded by Middlesex University, and two lead to masters degrees, validated by Middlesex University. One of these is the DCPsych in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy, which has been in existence since 2008. This programme is accredited by the BPS Counselling Psychology Division and by the Health and Care Professions Council. It is also accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy.

The position of deputy course leader
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and committed counselling psychologist with an interest in joining NSPC to help us develop this course. The ideal person for this position will have sufficient expertise in existential counselling psychology and therapy as well as proven administrative and managerial skills together with the vision and ability to help us consolidate the structure and operation of this programme.
The part time position of deputy course leader is available immediately. There may be scope for development of the position in future, if considerable growth of the programme is achieved.
At least one and a half days will be spent on course and other administrative tasks with the remainder taken up by teaching, the design and development of course materials, clinical supervision, and research supervision.
It is desirable, but not essential, that the successful applicant can be in the office on a Tuesday every week, and it is essential that the successful applicant should be able to attend core staff meetings that occur approximately month during term time.
There is room for creativity and initiative, though the deputy course leader has to work in close collaboration with the DCPsych course leader and with the admin staff as well as with the course leader of the DProf in Existential Psychotherapy and the Masters programmes and the clinical coordinator.
Your job will involve you in a broad range of duties, such as helping us to produce the course handbook and validation documents as well as annual reports, attending board meetings and progression boards, representing NSPC at professional bodies and with our partner University: Middlesex University. You will work with us on advertising, admissions and interviewing new students as well as being available to solve a wide variety of student queries and problems. We envisage that you will teach at least one academic course each term, to remain in touch with the students. You will be directly accountable to the Course Leader and to the Principal and Deputy Principal of NSPC.
