Christ Church intends to appoint a fixed-term Lecturer in Philosophy to provide up to 10 hours of tutorial teaching per week during full term with effect from 1 October 2019 to 30 September 2020. This post is fixed-term to fulfil the teaching need arising from Professor Joseph Schear’s sabbatical leave.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching of undergraduates studying Philosophy for a range of joint-honours degree programmes. They will be expected to provide teaching for the following papers:

First year papers: Introduction to Logic (formal work in propositional and predicate logic), General Philosophy, Moral Philosophy; Second year papers: at least one of Early Modern Philosophy or Knowledge & Reality; Advanced options: Post-Kantian Philosophy is strongly desired.

Preference will be given to candidates who have, or expect to have completed by 30 September 2019, a doctorate in Philosophy. Applicants should have higher education teaching experience in tutorial or small group settings, and a research record commensurate I took  with the stage of their career.

The salary offered will be on the scale £22,521-£25,329 per annum. Appointments are usually made on the first point of the scale.
