Project Title: Macromolecular diffusion in thin solvated films
The project is part of a broader effort in the laboratory of Dr. Ralf Richter, funded by a Proof of Concept Grant of the European Research Council, to develop a method for the quantification of molecular and nanoparticle diffusion in thin solvated films. You will develop and apply methods based on optical microscopy to study macromolecular diffusion in confined spaces. The role entails both technical development and commercialisation aspects, including collaboration with other leading labs in academia and industrial engagement. This will provide exceptional career development opportunities for the interested applicant.
You must have a PhD or be close to completion in physical chemistry, physics, engineering or a closely allied discipline. You will be a highly motivated individual with extensive experience in the development of optical sensing/microscopy methods, in the preparation and quantitative analysis of functional biomolecular/polymer films, and in working across disciplines such as physics, chemistry and biology.
The work will be carried out in the multidisciplinary School of Biomedical Sciences, in collaboration with the Molecular and Nanoscale Physics Group at the School of Physics and Astronomy in Leeds.
