The Department of Respiratory Therapy in the College of Rehabilitation Sciences, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba is seeking applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning January 1, 2020 or as soon thereafter as possible. The appointment will be at a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The department expects the successful candidate to bring research experience and to develop a research program related to respiratory therapy. As an assistant professor the candidate will be provided with mentoring and coaching in teaching and research as appropriate, with the expectation that he/she will in turn mentor and coach other faculty within the department. In addition, opportunities exist for collaboration in a number of research groups within the faculty, the university and the clinical community. This is an exceptional opportunity for a qualified individual to contribute to the ongoing success of the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences and to create a new level of interdisciplinary research.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate respiratory therapy students and teach or supervise MSc Rehabilitation Science and PhD students. You will develop a rigorous and independently funded research program with the department, while creating strong collaborations in translational research within the clinical community. Primary areas of research of particular interest to the department may include respiratory medicine, critical care, health professions education, and medical simulation.
A minimum of a Master’s degree is required with a preference of a PhD, or a PhD in progress in a health related field. The successful candidate will have ideally five years of academic, professional and/or clinical experience and be in good standing with, and be eligible, for licensure in their provincial regulatory body as appropriate.
The Department of Respiratory Therapy is a part of the College of Rehabilitation Sciences, it is located adjacent to the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, which is a major teaching and research hospital serving Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario, and Nunavut. The department is situated in a newly completed state-of-the-art facility specifically designed to meet the needs of the program. The College of Rehabilitation Sciences along with the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, and Nursing make up the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba. This is a dynamic health sciences campus that provides opportunities for Interprofessional collaboration in research and education with other health disciplines.
