This is a permanent, full time position (35 hours per week) based at Swansea University's Bay Campus.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for academics with excellent research in Big Data / Data Science to join Swansea University’s Top 20 UK ranked Department of Computer Science, which is part of the College of Science. Furthermore, we have recently been awarded an EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Enhancing Collaborations and Interactions with Data Driven and Intelligence enabled systems that will train the next generation of research and innovation leaders in human-centred approaches.

The Department welcomes applications from early career academics with a developing portfolio of research that has the potential to play a role in the future development of the discipline. The post involves teaching and supervision in Computer Science at both undergraduate and postgraduate level; and requires commitment to enhancing the student experience. 

The successful candidate will strengthen the existing Visual Computing group and should demonstrate how they will contribute to our research and teaching agendas. We currently have strengths in AI and Machine Learning, Computational Health, Data Science, Computer Graphics; specifically: Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Medical Image Analysis, Health Informatics, Data Discovery, Data Mining, Evolutionary Optimisation, Biometrics, Visualization, Visual Analytics, Low Order Modelling, Data Discovery, Big Data, Mesh Generation, Geometry Processing, Rendering, GPU programming, Monte-Carlo Methods. We have applications to many areas including: Internet of Things, Sports Science, Biology, Medicine, Engineering, Finance, Gaming, Film industry, Astronomy, Literature, Geography, Life Sciences, Customer Services, Digital Economy, Social Media, Sustainability.

The successful candidate will benefit from state-of-the-art research labs in the new Computational Foundry building, including many laboratories such as Visualization lab, Vision and Biometric, Internet of Things, Makerlab, Security, and extensive space for PhD students. They will also benefit from being embedded in an existing group of 10 academic researchers. 

This posts will contribute to the Computational Foundry. The Computational Foundry has been part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government and Swansea University. The Computational Foundry will make Swansea a beacon for Computer Science, attracting and retaining world class researchers, building up a talented future workforce who will innovate, challenge and disrupt.
