The Faculty of Business Administration is seeking to appoint a Professor of Business Communication and Intercultural Competence for the Summer semester 2020 or later. The successful candidate should have both professional leadership and teaching experience and be passionate about transferring knowledge in the context of international business and communication.

Contract type: permanent

You will teach subject-specific modules in Business English, Intercultural Communication and Intercultural Management for undergraduate and graduate business study programmes in English. You will contribute to the development of curricula and research in these fields and course management as required. The role further requires actively fostering relationships and exchange with international partner universities and contributing to research projects with industry and business. You may also be required to teach modules in related fields and other faculties.


  • Completed first degree
  • Teaching competence and pedagogical aptitude. Suitable candidates will be invited to give a sample lecture.
  • Expertise in academic research as proven by a doctoral degree or comparable academic qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Ideally 5 years of professional experience after graduation with a first degree of which ideally 3 years must be in a field outside higher education
  • Higher education or equivalent teaching experience in Business English and Intercultural Communication and/or Intercultural Management
  • Experience in developing curricula and teaching material
  • Knowledge of economic and macroeconomic theory and policy
  • Knowledge of intercultural theory and practice
  • English language skills at proficient level
  • German language skills at proficient level or C2 level
  • Desirable: a third language at C1 level or above
  • Desirable: experience in applied business research and/or research in intercultural communication, proven by the publication of academic books and/or articles
