The project aims to develop novel methods to synthesise and test heterogeneous catalysts without human intervention.
This multidisciplinary project focuses on heterogeneous catalysis and the possibility to automate the discovery process; to develop and implement algorithms for selecting a catalyst recipe from an infinite number of possibilities; to rely on data, but use the accumulated knowledge and experience in the catalyst design.

Eligibility: Candidates must have a 1st or 2.1 honours degree. You should have a strong record in chemistry or chemical engineering, be familiar with the area of heterogeneous catalysis and experimental techniques. Developing algorithms and processes requires some knowledge (or desire to learn) programming in C (eg Arduino), Matlab, Python, Labview or others.
Funding: The project provides funding of £14,777 for 3 years. The funding is provided for only UK/ EU applicants. If you are an overseas candidate, the tuition fees must be covered by yourself – in this case, please indicate if you could have the fees covered.
