The School of Natural and Environmental Sciences is the UK leading institution for non-ruminant management research, including nutrition. We are seeking to appoint a Poultry Research Scientist to join our internationally renowned team and carry out research at the interface between animal nutrition, management and disease.
You will hold a postgraduate qualification in a topic related to Non-Ruminant Animal Science, have a track record of research in this field, and be able contribute to our interdisciplinary research and collaborate with our research partners across Europe.
We pride ourselves on our interdisciplinary approach and applicants open to working with both natural and engineering/physical scientists are particularly welcome. The position is underpinned by research grants and current and planned large scale investments in the University’s research farms, reflecting Newcastle University’s commitment to livestock research. This includes the recently inaugurated, purpose-built Centre for Digital Innovation Applied to Livestock (C-DIAL), where most of the research will be undertaken.
The School holds a bronze Athena SWAN award in addition to the University’s silver award in recognition of our good employment practices for the advancement of gender equality. The University also holds the HR Excellence in Research award for our work to support the career development of our researchers, and is a member of the Euraxess initiative supporting researchers in Europe.
This is a full time, fixed term post available until July 2021.
