Department of Civil Engineering is one of the most important specialized, research-oriented colleges in Shanghai University, China.
Four research directions are structural engineering, disaster prevention and mitigation engineering, geotechnical engineering, bridge and tunnel engineering. Relying on building materials laboratory, geotechnical laboratory, measurement laboratory, structural laboratory and structural simulation laboratory, we share wind tunnel laboratory and hydraulic laboratory with mechanics discipline, and pay attention to the mutual support and promotion of scientific research and teaching. Four research directions have been formed: structural calculation theory and engineering application, structural seismic control and control, basic characteristics and theoretical models of saturated/unsaturated soils, and deformation mechanism and reinforcement technology of geotechnical structures.
In the fourth subject evaluation of the Ministry of Education in 2017, the result of the subject evaluation of civil engineering is B-, ranking in the top 30-40% of the country. At present, there are 350 BEng students (10 overseas), 238 M.Sc research students(1 overseas), 44 Ph.D research students(2 overseas). And there are 39 academic faculties including 11 professors, 18 associate professors, 10 lecturers.
In recent 3 years, The Civil Engineering held 3 project for Chinese-Foreign Corporations, 15 projects of National Natural Science funding, 10 projects of Shanghai Natural Science funding, 38 projects for Scientific Consultations, 3 awards for Science and Technology progress, 7 monographs or textbooks, 38 patents and more than 300 research papers.The current research directions are structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, bridge engineering(bridgework).
The job titles being offered are professors, associate professors, and lecturers. The qualification for application is a postdoctoral with relevant teaching and scientific research experience.
