We have an Investigator Scientist position available (to be filled as soon as possible) for an experienced and highly motivated computational biologist in the group of Dr. M. Madan Babu at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, UK. This post will be part of a newly established Centre for Adipocyte Signaling (ADIPOSIGN) funded by a recent major grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation. ADIPOSIGN is run by four partners with highly complementary expertise in the fields of adipocyte biology, transcriptional regulation, signal transduction, physiology, and computational systems biology.
You will have a PhD in computational biology/bioinformatics/systems biology/network biology with extensive post-doctoral experience and proven track record in integrative systems biology and multi-omics network biology. Your primary role as a computational biologist will be to identify, develop, implement and use computational biology methods to integrate, mine, visualize and analyse multiple large-scale omics datasets for hypothesis generation and creation of network models of obesity. You will establish computational pipelines to organise and interrogate multiple omics datasets as well as develop and maintain a community web resource for the consortium.
The position will involve some traveling for collaborative purposes. You will be working in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment, and will be expected to communicate complex informatics principles, methods, analyses and results to scientists from diverse backgrounds in the consortium. You will enjoy a rich and collaborative intellectual environment and interactions with a dynamic interdisciplinary team working on a variety of topics, both computational and experimental within the LMB and through the ADIPOSIGN consortium.
