Animal Husbandry/Support Team - 6-8 Week Summer Placements

Are you a student of biological science or studies into animal health seeking paid work experience during the summer break?

We are looking for up to 8 students to come and work in our Research Support Facility for 6-8 weeks between July and September.

You will be working in the support team working alongside a dedicated team of Animal Technologists

Your days will consist of a variety of activities and tasks, from ensuring their is provisions of drinking water to inputting data that support our Animal Technologist ensure the welfare of the animals and ensure the facility runs efficiently.

Training will be provided.

Candidates shortlisted will be invited to an interview and tour at the Sanger Institute Genome Campus to meet the team and see what you will be involved in.

We will pay you a salary subject to UK standard tax and National Insurance deductions. However as a current stude nt, if you have not had any other earnings in the tax year you are unlikely to pay income tax.

Start dates will be agreed based on your availability and will be throughout July, August and September.

Essential Skills:

  • Comfortable being around animals
  • Good basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to keep neat and accurate records
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Able to follow set procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people

Ideal Skills:

  • Experience of looking after animals in a work environment
