The Institute for Health Sciences Education (IHSE) is one of six Institutes which form the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, part of Queen Mary University of London. Barts and The London are a leading medical and dental school that offers international levels of excellence in research and teaching in an area of unrivalled ethnic diversity. Staff within the Institute focus primarily on Medical Education in the delivery of the undergraduate Medical Degree programme (MBBS) and are leaders in curriculum design, delivery and assessment.
Based in the Community Based Medical Education (CBME) Team, the purpose of the role is to provide administrative support for designated community-based units of the five year undergraduate, the accelerated Graduate Entry MBBS degree programmes and the MSc Physician Associate Studies programme. Currently around 15% of these programmes are located in general practice or other Community Primary Care locations. The team are currently working with GP Tutors from 180 teaching practices.
The post holder will be educated to 'A' level or equivalent standard and will have significant experience in an administrative role preferably in an academic or NHS environment.
The post holder will provide high quality administrative support of all the elements relating to the Extending Patient Contact (EPC) and Student Selected Components (SSC) including placement allocations, assessment, attendance monitoring, placement payments, and curriculum operations.
The role is responsible for the processing of all Central Teaching and Teaching Associate Contracts and undertaking a range of standardised processes ensuring records, systems and databases are kept up to date and accurate.
The role will also act as secretary to the monthly CBME Unit Meeting and Senior Management Team meetings organising agenda papers and producing accurate minutes in a timely manner.
This is a part time (21 hrs) permanent post, starting in August 2019 (Tuesday and Wednesday plus one other day of the week) Starting salary will be in the range £27,251 - £33,615 (pro rata) per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
