The Impact and Intellectual Property (Impact and IP) team, based in Research Services (RS) is recruiting for an Impact and IP Support Officer to fill a vacancy generated from an internal secondment.

RS provides support to enable academic researchers and postgraduate research students to fund and undertake high quality research and to use the findings of this research for economic and social benefit. The Impact & IP team works closely with faculty-based colleagues to provide the range of support necessary to enable impact to be realised from research. The team also operates the University’s Commercial Assessment System and provides direct research commercialisation support to faculties. The team is responsible for building spinout companies and licence arrangements based on University IP.

We are looking for a motivated individual to play a key role in supporting the University’s ambitions to create impact from our research.  In this role you will provide excellent administrative support to the Impact and IP team. You will support the University’s research-commercialisation system by managing the distribution of initial enquiries from academic members of staff. You will also co-ordinate team diaries and organise events, workshops and investment meetings. You will also provide regular administrative support to other teams in Research Services by, for example, processing the signature process for research contracts.

The main duties of the role are:

  • To act as a point of contact for enquires regarding the University’s Commercial Assessment System and process any Initial Commercial Enquiries.
  • Provide support to team to co-ordinate diaries, meetings and travel arrangements.
  • Organise events & workshops on behalf of members of the Impact and IP team and Research Services.
  • Systematically update and maintain in-house databases to ensure status is up-to-date and records are accurate.
  • Prepare, collate and distribute commercially sensitive papers for investment panel meetings.
  • Respond to routine telephone and email enquiries from academic departments and external organisations in a professional manner.

This role is fixed term with an end date of 30th June 2020.
