Applications are invited for an engineer to support the development and realisation of complex, high-value, test rigs and facilities underpinning research on oil/air flows in aeroengine gearboxes and bearing chambers. The appointed engineer will join the G2TRC, home to the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre in Gas Turbine Transmission Systems. The G2TRC is a close-knit research team comprising academics, researchers, engineers and technicians. We regularly collaborate, with multinational industrial partners, in significant EU and UK funded research programs.
We are seeking a versatile and skilled mechanical design engineer with proven capability to deliver. This is a professional role; candidates should hold an appropriate engineering qualification, preferably Mechanical Engineering or similar. This post is a combined design and realisation role, taking components and systems from concept to manufacture and assembly. A high degree of expertise in CAD (preferably PTC Creo Parametric) is essential. Additionally, the successful applicant must have experience in preparing detailed manufacturing drawings to BS8888 (or similar standards) and must be proficient in the application of GD&T, DFM and DFA. Specific desirable experience includes: the design of shaft/bearing systems, bearing selection and integration, finite element analysis. The ability to work in a team and interact professionally with colleagues in G2TRC and with commercial customers is essential.
This full-time post is offered on a fixed-term contract until 25 June 2021. Job share arrangements maybe considered.
