University of Kent

Kent-Lille Joint (Cotutelle) PhD Scholarships include Home/EU tuition fees, and a stipend of £15,009 (Research Council rate) for three years.

Jointly supervised PhDs (widely known as cotutelles) offer PhD students the chance to be jointly supervised by the University of Kent and a university in another country, resulting in a dual award: a PhD from Kent and a doctorate from the partner university.

The Project

The project aims to identify and explore how technological innovations and innovative business models in healthcare and medicine can foster increased collaboration between different healthcare actors – biotechnology, pharmaceutical and diagnostic industries. In particular, it will explore how the disruptions brought by precision medicine require an open model of cooperation in R&D and innovation, which is increasingly associated with user-led innovation (i.e., empowerment of patients to build communities to take action and control of their health) and value co-creation in distributed networks (i.e., enabling more effective and efficient interactions between health systems and industries).

The successful candidate will be funded in a cotutelle arrangement where the student is based at the University of Kent's campus in Medway, UK as part of the Marketing Research Group, but will spend at least 12 months at the University of Lille, France.
