Three years, full time, fee waiver
A full-time University of Westminster PhD Studentship is available in the School of Finance and Accounting for January 2020. This PhD studentship is part of a strategic support to meet the changing needs of the Financial Services sector and to build the school’s research capability and environment.
In today’s digital age, people are seeking easy access, convenience, efficiency, and speed. As a result, the Financial Services sector is increasingly undergoing tremendous changes with the on-set of advancements in technology. FinTech or financial technology is the new innovation that is set to disrupt the entire financial services sector. Thus, to remain competitive in an increasingly demanding and innovative era, as a school, we are offering this PhD research studentship in this exciting area of FinTech. The applicant is expected to have some knowledge of the field and some experience of quantitative and qualitative research.
Eligible candidates will hold at least an upper second class honours degree and preferably a Master’s degree (or are currently studying towards a master’s degree and will have completed it in time to enrol in January 2020 if an offer is made). Candidates whose secondary level education has not been conducted in the medium of English should also demonstrate evidence of appropriate English language proficiency, normally defined as 6.5 in IELTS (with not less than 6.0 in any of the individual elements).
Funding: Home/EU fees waiver for three years. The Studentship is open to Overseas applicants though the fee waiver will be capped at the Home/EU rate currently £5,200 for 2019/20. Overseas applicants will be responsible for payment of the remaining Overseas fee amount, currently £13,300 for 2019/20 difference to pay £8,100.
Subject to minimum enrolment period of 33 months, maximum enrolment period of 48 months including a six month no fee period for writing up. Study mode is full time only.
