We are seeking a full-time web developer to participate in an extensive redesign/redevelopment of the FAIRsharing resource (

This position is a fixed-term 3 year post, renewable subject to funds, and based in a group of eight research software and knowledge engineers, led by Professor Susanna-Assunta Sansone (, at the Oxford e-Research Centre, within the University of Oxford’s Department of Engineering Science. The group research and develop methods and tools to improve data reuse; we work for data transparency, research integrity and the evolution of scholarly publishing.

The successful candidate should hold a degree, and will have some demonstrable experience with web application frameworks or web development/design. Example of relevant languages/software are: JavaScript (inc. frameworks such as Vue or React), RESTful and GraphQL services, Ruby/Rails, Python/Django, Java, XML, XSD, HTML, JSON, JSON schema, Elastic-search, relational and NoSQL databases (e.g. Neo4J), CSS, and AJAX. The successful candidate should have strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to effectively communicate ideas and concepts between different groups. They will also possess good organisational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects. This post may a developer at early or mid-stage of their career and offers plenty of opportunity for skill development, with grade and responsibilities adjusted accordingly.

This position also offers the opportunity to contribute to a growing portfolio of international research and development activities that address the grand challenges related to information science and scholarly communications, where data quality and readiness for (re)use is a prerequisite for success. An interest in research data management and open science would therefore be beneficial.
