Natural language processing has been a key area of research for more than 40 years at Essex University and much of this work is being conducted as part of CSEE's Natural Language and Information Processing group as well as the interdisciplinary Language and Computation group. Our work is based on three main pillars: natural language processing, information and image retrieval and formal semantics as well as their intersections. We organise regular events including the annual Language and Computation Day and the weekly Language and Computation Reading Seminar, and we are also co-organisers of the London Text Analytics Meetup.
