Deakin Law School each offer a 4-year PhD program that provides rigorous coursework training and supervision by world class researchers in a wide range of disciplines. We support your development as an academic leader through generous stipends and grants to support your research, as well as significant assistance to prepare you for the academic job market on completion.
Our PhD program is designed to help students develop independent research skills and is ideally suited for those who want to develop and test their own theories and ideas at a high conceptual level. Through completion of the degree, students will acquire the skills and abilities necessary to pursue an academic or research career.
We aim to produce future academic leaders, and you will receive a generous stipend and grants to support your research, as well as significant assistance to prepare you for the academic job market on completion.
PhD students can commence their program in either Trimester 1 (February) or Trimester 2 (July) each year. Expressions of Interest in the program are due in September and March prior to these commencement dates. The most outstanding students can receive a scholarship top-up of up to AUD $15,000 p.a. Applicants are benchmarked against the characteristics of an ideal candidate (see below) when assessed for scholarship eligibility.
