Based at the University of Waikato Joint Institute with Zhejiang University City College, Hangzhou, China
The University of Waikato has established a Joint Institute with Zhejiang University City College in Hangzhou, China. When fully operational in 2020 the Institute will have 1,000 students and 15 Waikato University staff. The students have the opportunity to graduate with a degree of the Bachelor of Business (Major in Finance), the Bachelor of Design (Major in Interface Design) or the Bachelor of Design (Major in Media Design).
The position is based in China and applications are sought from suitably qualified people to contribute to oversight of the academic content of the three degrees in conjunction with the relevant divisions in Hamilton, New Zealand. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the teaching associated with one of the three qualifications listed above.
The successful candidate will have experience as a Head of Department, Dean or in an area where academic leadership is demonstrated, with effective staff management experience. You will hold a high quality research record with the ability and knowledge to facilitate the research activities of the staff and have experience in teaching large and small groups of students. Additional essential requirements for this position are demonstrated experience; establishing and developing an effective teaching team; working with students across all cultures and those for whom English is not their first language; and monitoring the quality of academic programmes. A PhD and knowledge of the Chinese culture and experience of working in China are highly preferred.
Salary will be in the range of CNY500,000 to CNY600,000 per year, dependent on qualifications, skills and experience.

The appointment will start November/December 2019 to include training before teaching at the Joint Institute starts in March 2020. Applicants must be eligible to receive a Foreign Expert Certificate (FEC) to meet the criteria for teaching staff at the Institute.
