The successful candidate will also have the exciting opportunity to interact closely with a consortium that includes key aerospace, automotive and energy industries.

Our aim is to develop a new generation of advanced damage-tolerant materials, drawing inspiration both from recent research and biomimetics. Our goal is to define these fractal micro-structures by design and to then develop suitable prototyping methods to realise them in practice. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a genuine passion and excellence in research via their track record. In addition, applicants should demonstrate either an ability to develop and use numerical modelling techniques for simulating fracture in composites, or an ability to conceive, prototype and test bespoke composite materials. For a Research Associate position, applicants should have a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant area. For a Research Assistant position, applicants should have a Master’s (or equivalent) and be working towards a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant area. Applicants are expected to have a strong publication record, commensurate with their experience.
