ELIXIR is a European intergovernmental organisation that is made up of life scientists, computer scientists and support staff. Our goal is to help researchers take advantage of the huge amounts of data produced in life science, so that we can gain new insights into how living organisms work in health and disease. The ELIXIR Hub in Hinxton UK houses a dynamic and international team. The role of the Hub is to coordinate work done by the 23 countries in ELIXIR that have Nodes (a network of organisations that work within a member state). This role would sit within the Human Genomics and Translational team, which provides strategic and coordination support to the Human Data Communities within ELIXIR, namely Human Data, Rare Disease and Human Copy Number Variation.
ELIXIR is seeking a Human Data Scientific Officer to join the Human Genomics and Translational Data team at the ELIXIR Hub in Hinxton, UK. The main purpose of this role is to provide coordination and support needed to deliver an ELIXIR-wide comprehensive approach to the management of Personalised Medicine Data resources to influence impact to the future of healthcare in Europe. This will include mapping Personalised Medicine Data resources across Europe, developing policies for data management and use in healthcare settings and identifying gaps in technical capabilities and blocks for data use in a Personalised Medicine setting. This will include collaboration with technical colleagues from the ELIXIR Nodes, e-infrastructures as well as external experts in the field, including industry. Reporting to ELIXIR’s Head of Human Genomics and Translational Data you will contribute to projects in this area and participate actively delivering on Horizon 2020 projects such as EUSTANDS4PM. The Human Data Officer will work in close collaboration with ELIXIR technical coordinators and the external relations team at the ELIXIR Hub as well as with colleagues at the 22 national ELIXIR Nodes and other project partners throughout Europe.
A University degree in life sciences, international relations or other relevant field. Experienced in writing survey-based reports and developing summary recommendations. The candidate should also have experience in reviewing, interpreting and implementing governance policies. It is essential to have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and preferably other European language(s).
