Grade 9: £40,792 - £48,677 together with USS pension benefit if required.

This is a full time position, 35 Hour per week, with the additional requirement for call out in support of the University’s Incident Management Team.

Due to the need to handle confidential and Government restricted material the post holder will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Main Purpose of the Post

Swansea University is an ambitious institution that has a significant growth trajectory and a desire to sustain a top 30 ambition. The challenge in such a dynamic environment is to match the safety culture to the continued growth and change. The Scientific advisor has specific responsibility to ensure the Biological/GM, Chemical and Radiological safety is maintained across the University.

The post holder is the Senior Scientific Health & Safety professional who provides guidance and advice to a range of Senior Leaders. The post has significant liaison responsibility both internally with technical and Health & Safety professionals and externally with Natural Resources Wales and other regulatory bodies. The key aspect of the role is to provide the catalyst for continuous improvement against the Health & Safety Management System and ensure any risks are understood and well managed as an integral part of University Business and delivery of the University Strategic Plan.
