Innovation and Technology Solutions provides strategic empowerment for the University through the leadership of projects, continuous improvement, and the provision of a digital estate through which we inspire and support the study and work of all students and staff. We aim to provide outstanding services that are customer focussed and professionally and sustainably delivered.

Innovation and Technology Solutions, a section of over 100 staff, is organised in six main operational service groups – Infrastructure, Commercial Applications, Software Development, Technology for People and Place, Governance, Architecture and Assurance, and Strategic Projects. As a recently formed professional services department, Innovation and Technology Solutions brings together IT, data, project, and business systems teams.

We are looking to appoint two enthusiastic, proactive and highly organised Software Developers (Web Development) to directly support the work of one of our principal University clients, Communications and External Relations (CER).

CER are responsible for all UK, EU and international student recruitment. In addition to this, they are also responsible for marketing and admissions, widening participation and community activity, corporate marketing and communications, events, fundraising, relations with alumni, and the arts programme on campus.

The two post-holders will be members of the Web Development team within the Software Development group, line managed by the Development Manager (Web Development). The post-holders will be deployed to directly support two areas within Communications and External Relations, one to specifically support their Admissions team and one to support their Web Editing and Digital Media team.

The post deployed for Admissions will focus on the improvement of the systems and services that directly support the annual cycle of student admissions activities to gain efficiencies and enable growth in our student recruitment. The focus will be on web self-service through a renewal of our applicant portal and enhancements to our admissions systems. The priorities for work will be arranged by the Director of Admissions or their nominee.

The post deployed for the Web Editing and Digital Media team will focus on developing and maintaining the University’s website using Sitecore CMS so as to gain the maximum benefit from its adoption. The post-holder will contribute to the preparation and delivery of the third phase of the University’s web presence project. The priorities for work will be arranged by the Director of Communications and the Head of the Web Editing and Digital Media.

Both posts are based at the University’s Colchester Campus. Occasional travel to the Southend and Loughton campuses may be required. Both posts will be predominately located in the Communications and External Relations Section in order to be based with the principal client teams.
