The University of Lincoln has established a reputation as one of the most dynamic, fast growing universities in the UK. Situated in the heart of a beautiful and historic city it has built an international reputation for the quality of its teaching and research. Lincoln is currently ranked 22nd overall in the UK in The Guardian University Guide and 42nd in the Times Good University Guide 2019.

We are seeking an inspirational leader for the Lincoln School of Psychology. The successful post-holder will be a member of the College Management Team comprised of Heads of School, and other senior academic and professional services staff, and will report directly to the PVC/Head of College.

The School has a well-established and expanding academic profile in both learning and teaching and research. The School provides both undergraduate psychology degrees and a growing portfolio of postgraduate programmes, including the joint DClinPsy with the University of Nottingham. The School has four research groupings incorporating a range of methods and approaches to fundamental and applied issues: Forensic and Clinical Psychology; Perception, Action and Cognition; Development and Social Behaviour and the Autism Research Centre. Recent and current projects include mental health and homelessness, sexual offending, person perception and face recognition, sleep and cognition, child development and child safety, maternal health and the social psychology of gender and families. The School is housed in a new building with a suite of well-equipped research and teaching labs.  It has good links with schools across the campus and with external partners. It supports a thriving range of extracurricular and mentoring activities for its students and staff.

The new Head will lead the School and play a key role in shaping its future in line with the University’s and College’s broader strategies. The Head will be responsible for ensuring excellence in external assessments such as the REF, TEF and NSS, overseeing the School’s portfolio of programmes, maintaining and building new academic and research partnerships, coordinating and facilitating its research and income generation activities, as well as enhancing the national and international reputation of the School.

The post would suit someone who would relish an opportunity to make a difference in an ambitious institution, and to take the School to the next level in its development. We are looking for a candidate with experience of leadership within their discipline and applications are particularly welcomed from those whose research, scholarship or academic practice interests fit broadly within existing areas of expertise. The post may attract professorial status for suitably qualified applicants.
