The School of Communication and Culture invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor (tenure track) or Associate Professor of Interaction design and technologies based at the Department of Digital Design and Information Studies. Applicants must indicate clearly for which of the two positions they are applying.

If an associate professor is appointed, the appointment is tenured.

If an assistant professor is appointed, the tenure-track position begins with a full-time, fixed-term five-year position appointment as assistant professor with a view to permanent employment as associated professor. Tenure as an associate professor is conditional upon the assistant professor being assessed as qualified as associate professor before the end of the fifth year of employment at the latest or, if the tenure-track candidate requests it, before the end of the fourth year of employment. The assessment is based on the assistant professor’s fulfilment of the qualification requirements that apply to associate professorships and the criteria stated in the original advertisement. If the assessment is positive, the candidate will be offered a tenured position as an associate professor at Aarhus University.

The appointment begins on 1 April 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Department of Digital Design and Information Studies is one of the strongest academic IT environments in Europe and attracts visiting scholars and PhD students from all over the world. We are looking for an applicant that conducts research in interaction design with both a strong theoretical foundation and focus on interaction technologies. Topics of particular interest are product design, user experience, and user interface design and development. The successful applicant will be expected to further expand and consolidate these fields in the department through teaching and resear­­ch at the highest international level. In sum, we are looking for an innovative and dedicated applicant who will strengthen the research and teaching profiles of the department nationally and internationally as well as contributing to Aarhus University’s core activities in the areas of research, teaching and supervision, talent development and knowledge exchange.

Research
The Department of Digital Design and Information Studies emphasises the significance of high-quality research and attaches great importance to interdisciplinary collaboration. Accordingly, we are looking for applicants with an international profile and track record in interaction design research, interaction technologies and product design.
