Open Topic Tenure Track Professorship Future of Work (W1 / Assistant Professor)

The W1 professorship is to be filled by the earliest possible starting date for an initial period of three years. Upon successful evaluation, the appointment will be extended for another three years. FAU offers the long-term perspective of a permanent appointment to a W2 or W3 professorship if the requirements of the tenure evaluation are met.

We seek to appoint top early career scholars who will develop outstanding expertise in the field. The professorship is financed with funds from a Federal and State programme for supporting young researchers at German universities. All professorships in this programme are intended to make significant contributions to the FAU key research priorities. This call for applications addresses outstanding early career scholars with the ambition of developing their own profiles and careers as part of the strategic development of a key priority in cooperation with renowned scholars at FAU (‘Open Topic Tenure Track’). The position announced in this call for applications will strengthen research and teaching in the field ‘The World of Work’. The successful candidate will be invited to take an active role in the FAU key research priority ‘The World of Work’, the Interdisciplinary Centre LASER as well as in the FAU Centre for Management, Technology and Society (CMTS).

The Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law invites applications for a W1 professorship in the School of Business, Economics, and Society. The professorship will focus on the School’s research focus area ‘Change in the World of Work’ and will be expected to make a lasting contribution to strengthening this area and ideally establish connections to one or more other research focus areas in the School. The successful candidate will participate in teaching the degree programmes offered by the School.

The W1 professorship will focus on the area of communications science, specialising in the area of quantitative social sciences. We would especially welcome specialisation in the use and effects of digital media, social media, online research or corporate communication.

Successful candidates demonstrate initial academic achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards. You have substantial research experience abroad and/or experience in managing research projects and in raising third-party funding. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree as well as a passion for education and pertinent teaching experience are also prerequisites. Candidates who are able and willing to teach in both English and German are desired.
