This is an exciting opportunity to join Bioresearch & Veterinary Services (BVS) department at the University of Edinburgh. BVS provides biomedical research services across the University for a large and diverse scientific community and oversees all aspects of welfare, breeding and husbandry of animals in research. BVS is looking to recruit a Transgenic Development Technician to support world leading research at the University of Edinburgh.

This role is to support a specific group working in brain development. It is a technical post which involves generation of rodent animal models, particularly rats. Candidates are required to have relevant academic or vocational qualifications and relevant work experience in a transgenic production environment. They should have or have held a Home Office Personal Licence and be competent in techniques related to transgenic model generation (such as microinjections, cryopreservation and embryo transfer). Experience in transgenic rat model generation is highly desirable but training will be provided. All staff are actively encouraged to develop their Continued Professional Development personal skills and technique-base by access to internal and external training programmes.

Appointments will be made at the UoE grade of 6 depending on experience.
