The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be Grade 7 £35,965 - £43,470 per annum & Grade 8 £44,674- £52,701 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
We are looking for a talented research fellow/ senior research fellow to translate findings from mice to humans regarding the interaction between the gut microbiota and the peripheral immune system in the context of autoimmunity.
Our aim is to identify stimuli that influence Breg differentiation and stability in naïve mice and to test whether any of these stimuli can be use in vitro to rescue and to expand functional Bregs from patients.
The successful candidate at Grade 8 is expected to set up and run experiments independently, to record, analyse and write up the results of experiments and prepare progress reports on research for funding bodies as required.
The successful candidate Grade 7 is expected to set up and run experiments in consultation with the Principal Investigator, ensuring that experiments are appropriately supervised and supported. To record, analyse and write up the results of experiment, as well as recruiting patients from clinics at UCLH for entry into the group's studies.
Position available until the end of February 2021 in the first instance for Grade 7 position.
Position available until end of August 2022 in the first instance for Grade 8 position.
The successful candidate must have a PhD (or about to be awarded) in immunology or a related biological subject, as well as experience with human blood sample handling.
Evidence of high-quality research ability and also have good interpersonal, writing, and organisational skills.
An appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B (Salary £30,922 - £32,607 per annum, including London Allowance) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
To be considered for Senior Research Fellow grade 8, successful candidate must effective supervise and mentor of PhD Students, disseminate research findings at conference and similar, participate in research-related enabling activities. Must be able to set up and run experiments independently and prepare and present findings of research activity to colleague for review purposes.
