The British School at Rome is a centre of interdisciplinary research excellence in the Mediterranean supporting the full range of arts, humanities and social sciences. Our highly competitive and prestigious awards have provided many leading scholars with a critical base for their subsequent careers.

Applications are invited for a number of residencies, suitable for early career scholars (at postgraduate and in particular early post-doctoral level) in the humanities and social sciences. They are for research on any aspect of the social, religious, political and economic cultures of the Italian peninsula, and their wider textual, visual and material dissemination and reception, from early prehistory to the modern period. These awards offer membership of a vibrant multidisciplinary research community, a varied and international events programme, accommodation in our residence, food, 24-hour access to our historic library collection and a research grant. They are tenable for three or nine months.

Further details (including eligibility criteria) and application forms are available at http://www.bsr.ac.uk/awards/humanities-awards#early
