The Department of Geography and Planning is looking to appoint an Impact Officer who will support the development and evidencing of external impact generated from research activities within the Geographic Data Science Lab (GDSL). This includes the enhancement of existing impact cases for submission to the next Research Excellence Framework (REF).
This is expected to be a leadership role and the appointed person will be proactive in developing new impact- generating opportunities as well as evidencing existing impact. This position will potentially involve communication with a wide range of audiences including academia, industry and public- sector organisations.
The successful candidate should ideally have (or about to be awarded) an Msc in social science or computer science and have an awareness of the research environment related to quantitative / computational social science. Experience of engagement with industry and/or public-sector organisations is expected and prior experience of REF impact cases would be advantageous. The post is available for 6 months.
