College of Science and Engineering

The School of Chemistry is looking for a Research Associate to make a leading contribution to the project "Delocalised phonon-like modes in organic and bio-molecules", funded by the Leverhulme Trust, under the guidance of Dr Hans Senn and Prof Klaas Wynne. The job involves (i) setting up, running, and analysing quantum-chemical calculations using semi-empirical and DFT methods; (ii) setting up, running, and analysing classical and QM/MM molecular-dynamics simulations; and (iii) developing a computational approach for the calculation of IR and Raman spectra from dipole and polarisability trajectories. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as well as help manage and direct this complex and challenging project as opportunities allow.

This post is full time with funding up to 2 years in the first instance.
