Salary: Health Service Executive (HSE), Type B basis under the Consultants’ Contract 2008

Hours of Work: Hours of work for clinical consultant is 39 hours on a full time basis with requirement to work on call.

Post Summary

Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin, along with their healthcare partner, Our Lady’s Hospice and Care Services wish to jointly appoint a Professor of Palliative Medicine/Consultant in Palliative Medicine. The appointee will have a distinguished reputation in research and will be expected to provide leadership in both teaching and research for both Universities and clinical leadership at the Hospice.

Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services

Since 1879, OLH&CS has taken a holistic approach to end of life care and the personalised needs of patients and their families. People are living longer, with more complex care needs and our specialist services help to support these needs, in the hospice or in patients’ homes. As Ireland’s largest Palliative Care provider, caring for a catchment area of over a million people, OLH&CS manages specialist sites in Harold’s Cross, in Blackrock and Wicklow (2019).

This post will primarily be based at the Harold’s Cross site where we have a 36 bedded inpatient unit, 2 community palliative care teams, a day hospice, out-patient services & 28 level 2 palliative care support beds.

Additional services within the Harold’s Cross campus include; Older Person services (24 bed community Reablement Unit and an 89 bed residential unit) and a Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Disease Unit (40 inpatient bed, day case service, out-patient service).
