The M.A. in Spanish immerses students in the language and its cultures, while providing the tools to achieve high standards of literary scholarship. The program is designed for holders of an undergraduate degree in Spanish or a related field, language educators and literary scholars.

The degree offers a holistic approach to the study of Spanish language, culture and literature. Conducted entirely in Spanish, the curriculum includes courses in Spanish and Latin American literature, film, art, women writers, linguistics, language acquisition theories and teaching methodologies. In September 2020 Saint Louis University-Madrid Campus is launching a M.A. in Political Science and Public Affairs, with a concentration in International Relations and Crisis. Developed by Madrid faculty in response to the increasing number, intensity and impact of international crises in recent years, the program is designed for students holding an undergraduate degree in political science, international relations or a related field, and who are interested in developing a deeper understanding of key contemporary crises.

The degree features creative teaching methods, including simulation games, guest speaker series, academic conferences and trips and internships. As a country deeply affected by the 2008 financial crisis, Spain provides extraordinary outreach and internship opportunities with international governmental and non-governmental organisations.
