This post represents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to join a team of staff in Keele University’s Faculty of Natural Sciences. The Faculty is responsible for the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences.
A postdoctoral research associate position is available within the group of Dr. Gavin J. Miller, to carry out research on a project funded by UK Research and Innovation (as part of a UKRI Fellowship award to GJM).
This innovative UKRI project is in the area of carbohydrate chemical biology and the research will involve the design and synthesis (both batch and automated) of a series of oligosaccharide targets, alongside the establishment of biochemical methods to further functionalise them.
Applicants must have a PhD (or have submitted a thesis prior to taking up the appointment) in synthetic organic/carbohydrate chemistry. Experience with multi-step chemical synthesis routes is highly desirable.
Applicants will have excellent communication skills, ability to work independently, and have an organised approach to the management of their research.
The post is available for 36 months and the successful candidate will also be expected to participate collaboratively with academic partners at the University of York (Dr Martin Fascione) and internally in Life Sciences at Keele. The role will also involve supervision of PhD students and contributing to running a research group.
