Scientific Associate [Temporary Cover - Maternity]

University of Cambridge - Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute

The VISIONLab research group of Dr Sarah Bohndiek develops novel imaging approaches for early cancer detection and evaluation of disease prognosis. They also apply these new imaging methods in cancer models to explore the role of the tumour microenvironment in cancer development and are active in translating their findings into clinical trials.

Applications are invited for an experienced Scientific Associate (SA) to join the VISIONLAB, which is co-located in the Department of Physics and the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute at the University of Cambridge. The role is primarily based at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, but also provides support to the Department of Physics team where needed. As part of the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine, the Institute's research ranges from basic cancer biology through translational cancer research to clinical application. The Institute currently houses over 350 researchers and support staff with 21 research groups. It provides a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment in cancer research, with state-of-the-art facilities and core scientific resources, and good links with the scientific community of Cambridge.

The SA reports directly to the Group Leader, Dr Bohndiek, and will act largely independently to provide project management, scientific and technical support, training to other team members as well as periodically to other research groups.  The SA role is a hands-on technical and administrative role enabling the day-to-day running of the group, facilitating the scientific research of the group, liaising with the Core Facilities and management committees of the Institute and ensuring the health and safety of the team.

For more information about the laboratory, please see www.bohndieklab.org or email any specific questions to seb53@cam.ac.uk.
