To strengthen our team, we are looking for a:

Senior lecturer (f/m/d) from the 2021 summer semester in Elemental Music and Dance/Movement Pedagogy (part-time, limited-term) in the Department of Elemental Music and Dance Pedagogy – Orff Institute, Focusing on music pedagogy /experimental instrument making

The initial employment contract as Senior Lecturer will be limited to two years, at 60 percent of full-time employment at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, with the option of permanent  employment. The number of contracted hours may increase due to teaching requirements. Remuneration will be based on salary group B1 of the collective agreement for university employees and will amount to at least € 1,757.40 gross per month (14 x pa). The monthly gross salary may increase on the basis of the provisions of the collective agreement by taking into account previous experience relevant to the duties. The candidate will be expected to start on 01/03/2021.

The duties will include:

  • Teaching in the subjects of elemental music and dance pedagogy with a specialised focus on music pedagogy in the context of social diversity in theory and practice,
  • Designing artistic pedagogical projects, as well as supervising didactic internships and teaching practice for students in various target groups,
  • Collaborating on the content and organisation of conferences and publications of the Department of Elemental Music and Dance Pedagogy – Orff Institute of Mozarteum University Salzburg,
  • Supervising academic and practical theses,
  • Taking on organisational and administrative responsibilities, as well as participating in evaluation activities in the Department of Elemental Music and Dance Pedagogy – Orff Institute of Mozarteum University Salzburg.

What we are looking for in a candidate:

  • Good teamwork skills and a strong interest in working with students and relevant groups,
  • Proof of a relevant Master‘s degree or equivalent higher education qualification completed in Austria or abroad,
  • Proven teaching experience working with different target groups and age groups in the field of "music and/or movement/dance",
  • The ability to combine theory and practice and to impart academic and pedagogical competence,
  • Good command of written and spoken German and English.

The following would be desirable:

  • Proven ability to teach experimental instrument making, and
  • Openness to extending the number of hours and taking on additional duties, possibly in the context of international work at the Orff Institute.
