You will have a PhD (or equivalent industry experience) in a related technical field as well as expertise in hardware design (with a preference for vision sensor and/or optics) and excellent communication skills.

This position is funded by an ESPRC Impact Accelerator Award and will involve both researchers from the University of Sheffield (led by Dr. Mike Mangan), and engineers from recent University of Sheffield spinout company, Opteran Technologies (www.opteran.com). Opteran Technologies is commercialising Artificial Intelligence and computer vision technology inspired by nature and has already received funding from the Connecting Capabilities Fund of the British Business Bank to develop demonstrators of their technology. You will join this highly-motivated team focused on achieving ambitious technical goals within a short timeframe.
