An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and proactive Finance Officer to lead the financial operations across both the Department of Politics and International Relations and the Department of Sociological Studies. The Department of Politics and International Relations is one of the UKs most successful centres for research and teaching. The Department of Sociological Studies is one of the top social science research departments in the UK with a long history of high profile contributions to theory, policy and practice. Supported by an experienced Finance Assistant, you will be working closely with colleagues from the Faculty Finance Team.

You will provide direction and advice to staff and students on a wide range of financial matters and will ensure that both Departments comply fully with internal and external audit requirements. We are seeking candidates with a working knowledge of financial procedures, preferably in a higher education setting, with the ability to work to the highest degree of accuracy and with the skills and confidence to tackle problems and work with others from within and outside the organisation. The role will require excellent customer service skills as well as excellent planning and organisation skills and strong IT skills. This is an exciting opportunity for you to take a significant lead in managing, maintaining and improving our financial activities.
