WMG is a vibrant, cutting-edge research institution at the University of Warwick, one of the world’s leading research and education groups with state of the art technologies. WMG hosts one of the seven centres for High Value Manufacturing (HVM) Catapult. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer or Research Fellow to significantly expand their research and technical skills within the strategically important areas of Manufacturing Automation, Supply Chain, Electrification and Connected and Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) safety analysis. You will need to be able to evidence your capability in the area of systems engineering with experience of applying Systems Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA) for safety analysis. Additionally experience with ISO 26262 and ISO 21448 (or corresponding aviation, rail or manufacturing standards) is required along with experience in safety case development. Experience with using various vehicle simulation packages like IPG CarMaker, PreScan or other driving simulation packages will be an added advantage. The work carried out in this role has a potential to influence future national and international (ISO) standards. Successful applicant will be exposed to variety of industries – aviation, automotive, marine, healthcare etc. and will be working collaboratively with industrial partners.
Strong experience will be required along with your well-developed communication and collaboration skills to assist working independently and as part of a team. The ability to be flexible with your work will be an important part of the role. You will also be responsible for project delivery and providing regular updates to project partners, High Value Manufacturing Catapult and WMG Intelligent Vehicles’ leadership team.
