1. About Us
School of Microelectronics Science and Technology (MST) of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) was founded in 2019 and located at Zhuhai, one of the core cities of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The establishment of school is one of the innovative strategies of SYSU to strengthen and promote the development of microelectronics in the country, to cultivate world-class professionals in the designing and manufacturing of integrated circuits, and to advance further research on chips with independent intellectual property rights. MST has been committed to developing with adherence to academic frontiers, national vital strategic needs, and national and regional social and economic development. It has set a principle of “emphasizing on basis and abilities, and seeking for innovation and application” for its professional cultivation, and has gathered excellent faculties and staffs to build an important base for professional cultivation and scientific research on microelectronics in the country.
Based on comprehensive consideration on the country’s development of microelectronics and on SYSU’s plan of discipline development, MST focuses on the construction of microelectronics, which includes integrated circuit design, design automation, devices and process, packaging, and application of integrated circuits, aiming to create discipline advantages in integrated circuit and system, semiconductor manufacturing technology and new devices. MST has the major of “Microelectronics Science and Technology” for undergraduates, and provides master and doctoral education programs. Currently, although there are only the first fresh 83 undergraduates studying in MST, MST is and will recruit more professors and researchers.
The Sub-forum of Talent Forum Organized by MST
Starting from June 2019, about 500,000 square meters of buildings will be delivered successively in Zhuhai campus. MST will move to its own building, and will construct advanced laboratories for integrated circuit design and testing, and microelectronics technologies and devices, and purchase advanced equipment for scientific research. MST will also apply public research platforms and laboratories as well as local research platforms to conduct scientific research. All of these will provide solid support and guarantee for discipline construction and teaching and research in MST.
