The Department of Psychology has grown its research activity over the last five years and now has a large portfolio of internally and externally funded research projects. Last year we made 82 new grant applications of which 25 were successful bringing in over £1.6m. Our revenue for consultancy activity exceeded £600k.
On the basis of this success we want to add a Research Grant and Income Manager to our staff to support the Department’s ambitions to increase its successful acquisition of grants and to enhance the monitoring and management of research income.
The Research Grant and Income Manager will support the Department’s research revenue in four main ways:
They will assist in the development and implementation of grant support for academic staff in the department. Along with the Grant Capture Leads, they will support staff in identifying appropriate funders, gaining appropriate training and advice for specific research funding calls, submitting grants and liaising with the research support services to ensure the effective administration of grants.
You will be joining a very large, lively, diverse, collegiate and ambitious group with an excellent reputation for its theoretically informed impactful and applied research and its teaching provision at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Applicants will have an undergraduate degree in Psychology (or cognate discipline), good data management and IT skills and experience of working across a wide spectrum of levels within a university (or similar organisational environment). You should have a good understanding of the research application process and the HE funding landscape as well as of the management of externally funded research grants.
