We seek a Principal Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering who will contribute to leading and delivering our ambitious plans to continue to grow the Department of Engineering at Nottingham Trent University.
The Department is characterised by an innovative approach to education in partnership with industry, emphasising innovation and project delivery on a foundation of core engineering expertise. You will be an inspiring educator, who aims to develop project-based teaching in the context of real world applications, and thrives in a collegiate Department. The department has recently been recognised as a member of CDIO.
You will have a PhD in a relevant Engineering discipline and expertise in Engineering scholarship. Preferred areas of expertise include Sustainability Engineering, Engineering Design and Product Development, CAD/CAM/CAE, Human Factors / Ergonomics, Advanced Manufacturing and Smart Materials. You will have a proven track record of delivering engaging and effective learning across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, with an up-to-date expertise in blended learning. You will have an appreciation of quality processes in higher education in the UK, and expectations from industry and accrediting bodies. You will have experience of developing new modules and programmes, and working alongside colleagues to ensure success for students.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape new developments in both teaching and research in a new department with new purpose-built facilities. Our plans include parallel investments in a number of other academic posts and a Medical Technology Research Centre. Our new dedicated Engineering building opened in September 2019. The successful candidate will have opportunity to develop teaching capability in these purpose-built new facilities.

The Department of Engineering launched new programmes in Biomedical Engineering, Electronic Engineering and Sport Engineering in 2017, and a new programme in Mechanical Engineering in 2018. It launched a Foundation in Engineering and Mathematics in 2019.
