Lecturer/ Associate Professor/ Professor with special responsibility for the School of Mathematics and Statistics

Guangdong University of Foreign Studies

Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) is one of the prestigious universities in Canton, China which specializes in international studies and educates professionals for international business and management.

The Mathematics and Statistics discipline in Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (hereafter referred to as GDUFS) was originally set up by the Department of Basic Course Teaching and Learning of the former Guangzhou Foreign Trade Institute. In 2004, after various reorganizations and mergers of schools and departments, the discipline was incorporated into the School of Information and new relevant departments were established, including the Department of Teaching and Learning of College Mathematics, the Department of Statistics and the Department of Applied Mathematics. In July 2014, as various disciplines and majors were adjusted in GDUFS, the Department of Applied Mathematics and the Department of Teaching and Learning of College Mathematics were incorporated into the School of Finance and the Department of Statistics into the School of Economics and Trade.

In order to give full play to the strength of Mathematics and Statistics as a foundation for other disciplines and to set up a Mathematics and Statistics discipline that is small in size but enjoys distinctive features, GDUFS established the School of Mathematics and Statistics in April 2018. It is a result of the merger of the Department of Applied Mathematics, the Department of Statistics and the Department of Teaching and Learning of College Mathematics. As a newly-established school in a university that boasts a competitive Economics and Management discipline, we endeavour to cultivate talents in mathematics and statistics who are also experts in economics and finance. In addition, we strive to offer quality general education courses that lay a solid mathematical foundation for the Economics and Management discipline. As GDUFS has entered into a new stage when it runs two doctoral programs of first-level disciplines, our school is aimed at making a contribution to GDUFS and building it into a high-level university with a global vision and distinctive features.
