About the role

We are looking for an experienced teacher to deliver Singing on a weekly basis to Levels 4 and 5 BA Acting and Music students. More specifically, we are looking for someone who has the qualifications, skills and practice to:

  • Deliver the basics of vocal physiology, safe singing technique and voice care in a practical, accessible way to a mixed ability group.
  • Give students confidence to develop whatever singing voice they have in a supportive group-learning environment.
  • Develop students' general musicianship skills including learning melodies by ear, harmony singing, rhythmic skills and tuning accuracy.
  • Encourage, within group-learning sessions, the development of each student's individual singing technique including breath support, projection, diction and vocal stamina.
  • Coach students on song interpretation across a wide range of musical styles (including musical theatre and all contemporary singing styles)
  • Through ensemble work, help students to integrate their singing effectively into the dramatic context (singing and acting together).
  • Demonstrate and advise on best professional practice (rehearsal etiquette etc.).
  • Develop stage skills for voice students on the BA music course who need support in Opera and Musical Theatre projects.
