Teaching Fellow B – Part-time (0.4 WTE) Health Assessment (Advanced Clinical Practitioner) and Independent/Supplementary Prescribing

The School of Health Sciences has recently moved to a brand-new refurbished facility. The state-of-the-art teaching technology and Clinical Simulation Centre demonstrate the University’s investment in this high achieving School.

With the ever-increasing recognition of the benefits to quality patient care, that can be achieved through advanced HCP roles, we have seen the demand for programmes such as Msc Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP), Health Assessment and Independent/Supplementary Prescribing (V300) grow. To support this increased demand, we are seeking a appoint a number of clinically active healthcare professionals, experts in their fields of practice, currently working at an advanced clinical practice level. These roles are 0.2 or 0.4 WTE and are dedicated to the support of the ACP, Health Assessment and Independent Prescribing Programmes. These posts represent significant opportunities for talented and ambitious healthcare professionals, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, to make a significant contribution to educating the future health care workforce, whilst enabling you to gain experience and personal development in the Education Pillar of ACP practice.

We are keen to support clinicians from a variety of fields of practice, however require the successful candidate to be registered with either the HCPC or NMC, due to our current validation status. We are seeking clinical expertise, so therefore are happy to support applications from practitioners new to Higher Education, and without a teaching qualification currently, as support can be offered to help you develop in this area. Successful candidates will be aided to develop their education portfolio, and we are happy to discuss how you will be supported and developed to gain the qualifications required to become a qualified teacher if that is something you wish to do.

These posts have initially been supported by external funding, therefore are being offered on a 2-year fixed term contract initially, however the intention is to develop the programmes over this time, and therefore the two year point is for review of demand, with the aim of expansion.

If you would like to discuss any of these opportunites please contact: Amy Dopson, Head of Department Education – CPD ( We look forward to receiving your application via The University of Surrey’s website.
