The Department of Mathematics and Statistics has a long and distinguished record of high-quality research, particularly into practically relevant problems that arise in real-world applications and settings. We are seeking excellent candidates to join our Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing group which is one of the largest and most highly regarded groups in the UK, well known in particular for organising the long running international Biennial Conference in Numerical Analysis. The group’s key research focus is on the construction and rigorous analysis of computational methods for algebraic and differential equations arising in a wide variety of application areas. Applications are sought from outstanding candidates in all areas of Numerical Modelling, but we particularly encourage applicants whose research is in numerical analysis related to network science, high performance computing, stochastic processes, scientific machine learning, data science and associated technologies, which are our current areas of strategic growth.
We would love to hear from you if you have a PhD and postdoctoral research experience; an emerging publication history in high quality academic journals; and research interests which align with this area of strategic priority – particularly if you already hold an external fellowship that can be transferred to us.
In keeping with our commitment to equality and diversity, we encourage applications from all sections of the community, particularly those who can support our Athena SWAN activity, which inspires the advancement and representation of women in higher education. For more information on diversity and inclusion at Strathclyde, please see here.
* Your Fellowship will normally be at lecturer level (exceptionally, at senior lecturer (Grade 9) (£52,560 - £59,135) where you have a strong track record in research leadership) for 5 years, with the expectation that you’ll meet our promotion criteria within that period and be transferred to senior lecturer (or, where you’ve been appointed as a senior lecturer, Reader) level.
